    npx @inlang/cli check --project ./project.inlang
    • All checks run by default: missing and empty translations, empty forms, missing or unknown variables, missing markup, missing plural/select forms and selectors, and unused messages. Per-check flags such as --missing-translations or --unused-messages run only those checks.
    • --locales de,fr reports only findings for these locales and validates them against the project's settings (--languageTags is accepted as an alias).
    • Unused messages are found with the project's usage-analysis plugin (@inlang/plugin-m-function-matcher ≥ 2.3.0 for Paraglide) in the source under the project's parent directory, or --source <paths...>. Git-ignored files (outside git: dot directories and a top-level dist, build and coverage), node_modules, Paraglide's compiled output and known build tool configs are skipped. When usages can't all be resolved, e.g. a dynamic m[`${fieldName}_label`](), check lists the file, line and code instead of reporting unused messages. With an older matcher, it asks to update the module URL in settings.json.
    • --format json prints the full report (with a version).
    • Exits with 1 when there are findings or project errors, and with 0 otherwise or with --no-fail.

    inlang validate and inlang lint are deprecated and hidden from --help. Both keep working and print a deprecation warning: validate still only reports settings and plugin errors, and lint does nothing else, as in CLI v3.

  • 4dfcb04: Add inlang cloud. It lists what is coming in inlang Cloud: automatic handoff between designers, developers and translators; AI translation that follows your terminology and tone and fits the design; and smart message keys. It then opens a short form where you can tell us what your team needs. For Paraglide JS projects, Paraglide JS is pre-selected in the form. --no-open prints the form's URL instead of opening it; the browser is never opened in CI, when the output is piped, or on Linux without a display. --json prints the features and the form's URL as JSON. inlang --help points to the command.

Patch Changes

  • 42b5c9b: machine translate only changes the translated messages in translation files. The CLI saves with the SDK, which now passes the current files to the plugin's export, so plugins that support it keep every unchanged message, the key order and the formatting of the files as they are.

  • 43f9216: The CLI no longer collects telemetry or error reports. Unexpected errors in a command now exit with code 1 instead of 0.

  • 3d2a49c: inlang machine translate puts the variants it translates into an existing message at their place in the source message. It appended them, so with en = one, * and de = *, de became *, one, and runtimes that select the first matching variant (Paraglide JS) never selected one. The target message's variants are now ordered like the source: translated variants go to their source position, existing variants keep their text, and a variant the source doesn't have (e.g. a plural category of the target language) stays after the one it followed. Because variants are ordered by id, the variants from the first one that moves on get new ids. Messages that weren't translated, and their entries in the translation files, don't change.

  • 772c0c8: Make machine translate resilient on large projects when using the community-operated service at translate.demosjarco.dev.

    • Requests to the service are limited to 6 in flight, matching the Cloudflare Workers per-invocation connection limit, instead of firing every bundle at once. Google and DeepL are unaffected.
    • Each request to the service now times out after 20 seconds instead of 15, leaving room for slower models and gateway fallbacks.
    • Throttled (429), server-error (5xx), timed-out and network-failed requests are retried up to 2 times (3 attempts total), waiting 5 seconds before the first retry and doubling the wait for each retry after it.
    • When the service is still unavailable for some translations, only those translations are skipped: every translation that succeeded is saved, and the command fails once with a single summary error instead of discarding the whole run.

  • 29ade49: machine translate no longer rewrites the translation files when nothing was translated. Before, it always re-exported every file, which could reformat files in git without any new translation. When translations are added, the files are still exported as before.

  • b0d8a4f: New messages, variants and bundles get uuid v7 ids instead of random uuid v4 ids, so they keep the order they were created in. Messages and variants are ordered by id (selectBundleNested, exports), and the database already creates uuid v7 ids, but insertBundleNested / upsertBundleNested (used by editors), the deprecated createMessage / createVariant helpers and inlang machine translate created v4 ids: variants a person added in an editor, or the variants of a machine-translated message, came out in random order. Runtimes like Paraglide JS select the first matching variant, so the order is part of the message. Existing ids don't change.

  • e779b1e: Add an optional INLANG_FREE_TRANSLATE_ZDR environment variable for the free, third-party translation service.

    When set to true, the CLI passes a zdr=true query parameter to the free service so the request is processed with Zero Data Retention. This is scoped to the free service only and has no effect on the Google or DeepL providers. When unset, no ZDR parameter is sent and the service's default behavior applies.

  • 7d74143: Address review feedback on the free translation fallback for machine translate.

    • Renamed the fallback's identifiers so they no longer read as inlang-owned: select it with INLANG_MACHINE_TRANSLATE_PROVIDER=demosjarco (was inlang), and pin a model or opt in to Zero Data Retention with DEMOSJARCO_TRANSLATE_MODEL / DEMOSJARCO_TRANSLATE_ZDR (was INLANG_FREE_TRANSLATE_MODEL / INLANG_FREE_TRANSLATE_ZDR). Docs and runtime messages now consistently refer to it as the community-operated service at translate.demosjarco.dev.
    • A complete outage of the fallback service now fails machine translate with a non-zero exit code instead of logging success. Partial, per-bundle translation failures keep the existing warn-and-continue behavior.
    • The fallback now also treats request timeouts, HTTP 429 throttling, and malformed responses as a service outage (previously only network errors and 5xx responses were detected), each pointing you at configuring Google or DeepL instead.
